Not Mine, His

Read this AMAZING entry about Corrie ten Boom. How many times have you limited what God can do through you by proclaiming you can't do it? You can't. That's the point.

What If...

Shaun Groves wrote this challenge/question in his blog: "If no one would think you were nuts… If you held nothing back… If you were brave and full of compassion… What could YOU do to meet those needs? What could your service be?"

My answer(s): I'd make sure that no parent at Children's Hospital - Wisconsin felt alone or in need of someone to pray with them. That parents were fed and clothed and ministered to by Christians intent on serving them.

I'd challenge churches and Christians that if they have a child with a lethal condition or a condition deemed "incompatible with life" in their midst, to err on the side of grace with that child's parents. Figure they will forget a deadline. Assume they're at wit's end and might not be eloquent. Surmise that they want to be visited, prayed with, listened to.

I'd work hard to connect Christians with the amazing Christian artists that are ministering out there today. Money should not be an obstacle to experiencing a concert that can buoy a family's spirits.

I'd work on Twitter and other social media to meet the broken and lost where they are.

What would you do? Let me know, and I'll let Shaun know.

Lament The Passing of Friday Night Lights

NBC is hinting that the best show on television, Friday Night Lights, is not going to be renewed. Brilliantly acted, written and shot, this is the only show in the history of television that showed Christians positively and even normal. For those who missed it, you missed something special.

What Christians Do

This article sounds a mite cold and imperialistic, comparing wealth and education (which rust and moths destroy) between Christian and Islamic countries. Could it be that the education and wealth extended by Christianity are simply elements of God's blessing? In other words, beyond the practical - that Christians care about the poor, want and almost require everyone to be literate - there is an element of God blessing those who bless Him and cursing those who curse him?

The Gospel According To Starbucks

It's a little unfair to judge this guy without reading his book. What think you of his point...that the Church has settled on a "print" mentality while society has moved on? That the Church lacks or has lost or is losing its connection because its still holding on to a method of connecting that doesn't connect (I think that's what he's saying)?

Great Site: AnswersinGenesis.org

You'll see this guy on the Christian channels, and he looks...well, he looks odd. But he's a very thorough and certainly a very compelling speaker. And a very logical thinker. Check out this site, for example, here's his answer to how long were the days during Creation.

An Outspoken Christian (Who Happens To Have Won Two Oscars)

Wow. Talk about not wavering and really telling reporters who you are. Denzel Washington shows his faith and dogged determination in this interview. I have to admit that my first thought was...wait, Denzel's kid plays pro football for the Rams? Answer: Yep. Now, that's a gifted family. I mean, it's not Batiansila family.
